The year is still young, and the Xbox One X is still a fairly new system, but we've already seen a few nice deals on the console in 2018. If you haven't already picked one up, now is as good a time as any, as you can grab a free select game--and the choices are solid.

Right now, Best Buy is throwing in one of eight games when you buy an Xbox One X at its regular price of $500. These are all full-priced, $60 games, although a selection of them are currently on sale for less, which may impact your decision. Your choices include Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Destiny 2, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Call of Duty: WWII, Madden NFL 18, Forza Motorsport 7, Assassin's Creed Origins, and NBA 2K18.

All eight are Xbox One X-enhanced games. While the system provides improvements with everything you play on it, certain games have received updates that allow them to more fully utilize the console's additional horsepower. The specific ways in which that power is used varies from game to game and can include support for up to 4K resolution, improved framerates, and faster load times.

This offer is available through Best Buy's website right now and requires the items to be in stock, so you may want to act quickly in case the game you want sells out. The full offer details are available here.

One important thing prospective Xbox One owners may want to be aware of is the recent news involving Xbox Game Pass. The Netflix-style service, which allows subscribers to download and play games from its library as much as they want, will soon be home to all future first-party exclusives. In other words, games like Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 will be available right at launch for those who subscribe to Game Pass.

Some links to supporting retailers are automatically made into affiliate links, and GameSpot may receive a small share of those sales.
