Get a Bunch of 3DS/Wii U Games for Cheap in the Second Humble Nintendo Bundle [UPDATE]

Darksiders II, Retro City Rampage, and Super Street Fighter IV can all be yours.

[UPDATE] The Nintendo Humble Bundle has added three more games to its collection. Nano Assault EX on 3DS and Swords & Soldiers II and Runbow on Wii U are now available as part of the beat-the-average-price tier. The list below has been updated to reflect this change.

The original story is below.

As it did last year, Humble Bundle is again offering a selection of Wii U and 3DS games for as little as $1.

The new bundle offers games from third parties; Nintendo, which is always hesitant to offer steep discounts on its own games, isn't responsible for any of the included titles. Paying as little as $1 gets you three games, while beating the average sale price ($8.56 as of this writing) gets you three more, a 3DS theme, and more games to be revealed. You can also bump your purchase price up to $13 or more to get all of the above, plus two more games.

Here's the lineup of exactly what you get:

Pay $1 or more:

Beat the average price:

Pay $13 or more:

While you'll get access to Shantae on both Wii U and 3DS, you'll have to choose between the Wii U and 3DS versions of Citizens of Earth.

It should be noted that, despite being digital copies of these games, you won't earn any My Nintendo rewards with the purchase of the bundle. As with all Humble Bundles, though, you can decide to send a portion (or all) of your purchase price to charity.

The bundle is available from now until May 10. If you're in the market for some cheap computer games, Humble also has another bundle for sale that includes Devolver Digital games like OlliOlli 2, Dropsy, Titan Souls, and more.

I was waiting for a sale to pick up a few of these games, but............ Wow I never expected a deal this good!! (glad I waited)

Is Darksiders 2 on the WiiU like the last gen versions or more like the remastered for the new gen?

Avatar image for Ovirew

Shantae 3(?) is likely a good deal at $1.

Citizens of Earth at least looked kind of funny.

Sweet deal

Holy crap, im buying another bundle now. I never thought we would get Runbow, this is a dream come true.

Avatar image for Jag-T1000

@iandizion713: I think if you bought the bundle, the additional games are included also. You don't have to buy the bundle again.

Avatar image for iandizion713

@Jag-T1000: I was just needing to buy one for someone else kinda. Im gonna gift Affordable Space Adventures and Runbow to my brother. Then i can trade, sell, or give away the rest.

To be honest this bundle seems kind of pointless to me. You'd think for being a Nintendo bundle there would at least be some actual Nintendo games. Like come on most of these can be bought on other platforms and are better on the other platforms as well.

But if you really need to have these on a Nintendo console or don't have any of them this is a good price to get them at.

I just hope we get some actual decent Nintendo exclusives next time.

@bacontophat45: Nintendo never devalues their games with stuff like this.

@Bread_or_Decide: I can remember waiting for literally years for Smash Bros Brawl to drop in price as I wanted to actually have at least a little bit of a Wii library with as late as I got the console. I had the Wii U and I was still waiting for Smash Bros Brawl to drop to like $20 and ended up skipping it completely for the new one. Which I guess reminds me to return to peeking at Wii titles so I can see what I missed from Nintendo. Maybe now they've actually dropped in price now that we're a couple of years removed from its generation.

I love Nintendo for the most part but good lord are they stingy. Maybe that's me being used to Steam sales however.

@jinzo9988: Years ago, Nintendo claimed that lowering the price of games would be the death of the AAA game scene because it creates a cycle where more and more buyers wait for price drops before buying a game. They went on record to say this wan't something they would ever practice. Indeed, the lowest I've ever seen a Nintendo game drop in price is $5 and very rarely do they re release games, but under a different branding, (players select?) at $20 dollars.

Avatar image for jinzo9988

@consolehaven: I waited so long that I didn't end up owning both Brawl and the new one... just the new one. They have a bit of a point though as I find it excruciatingly hard to buy a full priced game in this day and age (the Canadian economy doesn't help either as full priced games used to be at least 10 bucks cheaper than it is now, maybe age plays into it too as I just turned 30)... and lets be real, it's not like most Nintendo games somehow lose value as they don't depend on graphics and good games will always be good games. I mean look at me, I'm still interested in building a Wii library.

What Nintendo fails to understand however is that their games are being perceived as not being worth the price of admission moreso with every passing year (for the most part). With games offering several dozen times the content of the average Nintendo game in games like The Witcher 3 or Skyrim, and the average game being longer in general with a multiplayer component that adds at least a few hours for people who care enough (not counting Splatoon or Mario Maker, just Nintendo games in general)... remind me why I should pay full price for Super Mario 3D World again? I got the game when I used to care about building a Wii U library but if you asked me now to pay that price for it... not in your wildest dreams.

Captain Toad's pricing was refreshing in this regard, and since I had the Amiibo, I got around 3 or 4 extra hours out of it going on a Toad hunt. The quality for the most part is still there from their games but there's only so far that quality can sway me to actually spend that kind of money on a 5 or 6 hour experience at best (assuming no repeating playthroughs). I bought the first The Legend of Heroes game on a Steam sale for basically nothing, I'm about 6 hours into it, and there's an obnoxious amount of game left that I'm still entirely interested in playing through. Again... how in the blue hell do you sell me on a Yoshi's Woolly World or a Kirby and the Rainbow Curse at full retail value when that's the landscape?

EDIT: I just checked for fun and Best Buy in Canada is STILL selling Smash Bros Brawl for $39.99. Twilight Princess which is almost 10 fucking years old is being sold for $29.99. Super Fucking Mario All-Stars for $29.99 where the newest game in the compilation is almost 30 years old for a system almost 3 years removed from actually being supported. It's lunacy.

@jinzo9988: Indeed, I'm also starting to find it very difficult to support Nintendo as the years go by. Even their new IP, like Splatoon, as fun as it is, is as deep as a demo from some of today's titles. It's also probably a catch 22 at this point. Big games cost a lot of money and need to sell over 5 million copies to be profitable, which means almost half the install base of the Wii U. Which means even big games have limited budgets and Even if the next Zelda sold say 8 million copies, Nintendo isn't in the business of reinvesting profits from a hit into making the next game bigger and better. They see every project as something new and stand alone, as far as I can tell, so they don't 'get' how to build the install base of a franchise. I could go on and on with what's wrong with Nintendo. Part of me is sad because of the love I have for their franchises, relatively bug free games, and fun gameplay mechanics, but, the lack of constant new ip, low value games for the price, gimmicky control schemes, terrible networking makes another part of me not care. I feel more than ready to move on as I realise I've outgrown Nintendo.

I have none of these and I've been dying to pick up Freedom Planet. So for less than the price of Freedom Planet I get all these games.

Done and done.

Avatar image for jinzo9988

@Bread_or_Decide: I kind of feel the same way but I actually don't want to play it on my Wii U. I have no idea if it's on the 3DS or not but I'd get it for that. I'd even get it for the PC. The Wii U's a turn off. I use it every day for Youtube but I don't really want to sit and game on it.

Avatar image for ice12tray

@Bread_or_Decide: That was my thought with Affordable Space Adventures. I've been waiting for a sale on it and this just worked out perfectly.

Avatar image for Litchie

Dude. I've been thinking of getting Affordable Space Adventures, Shantae, Retro City Rampage and Rhythm Thief. This bundle is awesome to me. :)

Avatar image for AyatollaofRnR

$1 price suits a game called affordable space adeventures

Avatar image for elheber

I already own Retro City Rampage, Affordable Space Adventures, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Freedom Planet, and SSF4 3D.

Should I pay $9.30+ to get Rhythm Thief and Citizens of Earth? Should I pay $12 to get Darksiders 2?

I think I may actually wait to see what other games they add to this list. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Avatar image for iandizion713

@elheber: They say Citizens of Earth is a neat poor mans Earthbound. Darksiders II is worth it i feel. I think you should do it and sell, trade, give away the rest. After the humble bundle is over you can sell what you dont want on ebay or something.

Avatar image for hoyholyhoy

Meh, I guess if you don't own DS2 or SFIV3DS, otherwise there have been far more worthwhile deals.

Avatar image for sailor232

YES!!! This is amazing. The last Nintendo bundle was North America only I believe, so good I can get this one. 3/4 of the games on the list I really wanted to own.

Avatar image for Hvac0120

Amazing! Only wish other console makers would do a first party humble bundle!

Avatar image for Iemander

Eeeeh, this is Europe only?

Avatar image for BrunoBRS

oh wow, this is actually pretty tempting. i might buy it just to have some stuff to play on my 3DS.

Avatar image for iandizion713

Thank you Nintendo, this is another great Humble Bundle. Sucks it wont count for Gold coins, but o wells. I guess ill pay $13 and get SFIV and Darksiders also, i already have them but could give, sell or trade the codes.

Avatar image for ice12tray

Glad this is back, awesome collection for the price!

Avatar image for o311rocks

Dude you can get Shantae for $1?!?! This could be the system seller Nintendo's been waiting for.

Avatar image for deactivated-5a50575ec5600

I like the idea, but none of the games really catch my eye. (and I only have 5 games for wii U)

Avatar image for iandizion713

@Raidendude153: Shantae is an great platformer, and Affordable Space Adventures is a nice coop exploration game. One controls the ship and the other shoots. Its pretty neat. Either of those are worth the dollar alone. And just for those two games id pay the $13.

Avatar image for o311rocks

@Raidendude153: Darksiders 2 was fun, but I bet you can get it on PC for less that $13...

Avatar image for uncle5555

@o311rocks: True, but do you get like 8 other games with it for $13?
