With Gamescom underway in Germany, Microsoft today announced the minimum and recommended specs for Gears of War 4's PC version, along with 4K gameplay footage from it.

Microsoft actually offers three tiers of specs for the game--minimum, recommended, and ideal. No matter what, you'll need to be running Windows 10's anniversary update to play, and you'll also need a whopping 80 GB of hard drive space to install it.

At the low end, you'll need only a GTX 750 Ti or R7 260X. The ideal specs call for a GTX 970 Ti, a brand-new GTX 1080, or R9 Fury X, as well as a solid state drive--which is no small ask when you're talking about committing 80 GB to a single game.

Here are the full specs:

Minimum

  • CPU: AMD FX-6300 / i5 3470 @ 3.0 GHz
  • GPU: R7 260X / GTX 750 Ti
  • VRAM: 8 GB
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • HDD: 80 GB free

Recommended

  • CPU: AMD FX-8350 / i5 4690 @ 3.5 GHz
  • GPU: R9 290X or RX 480 / GTX 970 or GTX 1060
  • VRAM: 4 GB
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • HDD: 80 GB free

Ideal

  • CPU: FX-9590 / i7 4790 @ 4 GHz
  • GPU: R9 Fury X / GTX 980 Ti or GTX 1080
  • VRAM: 4 GB for AMD / 6 GB+ for Nvidia
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • HDD: SSD with 80 GB free

Alongside this, Microsoft released a debut gameplay clip of Gears of War 4 running at 4K. The PC version of the game supports resolutions at 4K; you can watch it above and see it in 4K on YouTube. The description notes the footage was captured on a PC equipped with a GTX 1080.
