Gears of War 4 Goes Gold Ahead of October Launch
Gears of War 4 comes out on October 11.
Gears of War 4, the first new entry in the series developed by Microsoft's The Coalition studio, has gone gold, meaning development on the base game is finished.
Microsoft made the announcement in an Xbox Wire post today. Microsoft's board of directors, including CEO Satya Nadella, celebrated the event at the Microsoft Canada Excellent Centre in Vancouver.
"This has been a real homecoming for me,," The Coalition boss Rod Fergusson said. "Coming back to Xbox to lead a studio of talented people from around the world, all focused on Gears of War, and doing so in my home country of Canada in one of the best cities in the world for technology and entertainment has been a dream come true."
Fergusson worked on the Gears of War series at Epic Games before Microsoft purchased the franchise. He later joined Microsoft to run The Coalition and head up development on Gears of War 4.
