Gearbox's Brothers In Arms Becoming A TV Series

Gearbox's World War 2 series Brothers In Arms is being adapted for TV. The television series will be based on true events, and the first season will dramatize a World War 2 scandal that was kept classified for 40 years.

Scott Rosenbaum will serve as showrunner on the series. He's previously served as executive producer and showrunner on Queen of the South, as well as showrunner on V and Gang Related. He was also a writer on Chuck and The Shield. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is also producing and helping develop the script. Jean-Julien Baronnet (Assassin's Creed), Richard Whelan (Band of Brothers Pacific), and Sean Haran (Gearbox chief business officer) are also attached. The show has not landed at a network yet.

"I'm honored to be joining the frontlines of this project and look forward to creating an emotional experience around a title that means so much to the Gearbox community," said Rosenbaum in the announcement. "What attracted me to this series was that while it's effectively a show about war, the series is really about the incredible stories of the ordinary men and women, from the soldiers, resistance groups, to local civilians who are confronted and overcame impossibly difficult, extraordinary situations. In addition, it's incredibly exciting to be able to bring these previously classified, unknown stories to an audience, stories that an audience is going to be quite frankly shocked they hadn't heard before."

Brothers in Arms debuted in 2005 with Brothers in Arms: Road to 30. Its later releases have been for mobile devices, including the most recent game, Brothers in Arms: Sons of War in 2014. Gearbox had planned a Furious 4 spin-off, which never materialized. Gearbox has previously expressed interest in adapting the game property.
