Disney's new computer-animated family film The Wild is set to hit theaters in April, but interested gamers will be able to get an early taste of the story courtesy of Buena Vista Games. The publisher has announced that The Wild for the GBA will arrive in stores on April 4, more than a week before the film's April 14 release.

The film follows the story of Samson the Lion (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland of 24 fame) and Benny the Squirrel (Jim Belushi, star of Curly Sue and K-9) as they venture out of the safe confines of the zoo and into the wild to save Samson's young son. Janeane Garofalo (The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Mystery Men), William Shatner (Star Trek, Tek War), and Eddie Izzard (Velvet Goldmine, All the Queen's Men) also provide voice work for the film. Aimed at an audience of 6- to 11-year-olds, the game follows Samson and Benny through 18 side-scrolling levels on their way to rescuing Samson's son.

Neither the game nor the movie has yet been rated.
