GameSpy Industries announced on Tuesday the release of GameLaunch 3D version 1.5, a program that lets gamers preconfigure game settings like 3D properties and game controls prior to actually running the game.

Version 1.5 provides support for 3dfx's Voodoo3 and nVidia's Riva TNT2 chipsets, as well as configurations for Quake 3 Test and Half-Life Team Fortress. Also, a built-in script converter for the Quake series lets players convert old configurations to the newer games. However, this all comes at a price - registration is US$20 after a 30-day trial run.

"GameLaunch defined the category and enables new users to quickly enjoy maximum benefits, while hard-core gamers can infinitely customize their 3D and controls," said Mark Surfas, president and CEO of GameSpy Industries.

The company is perhaps best known for its GameSpy 3D software, which allows gamers to quickly search the Internet and find accessible game servers to play on, as well as for MP3Spy, a program that provides users access to many sites that carry streaming MP3 audio.
