GameCube Celebrity Deathmatch killed off

Gotham Games quietly cancels MTV-inspired title for Nintendo console; "programming issues" cited.

Comments

Take-Two Interactive subsidiary Gotham Games and development house Big Ape Productions announced Wednesday that Celebrity Deathmatch shipped to stores. The comedic fighting game, based on the MTV claymation series of the same name, is available for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation, Xbox, and on PC.

However, the announcement omitted any mention of the GameCube version of Celebrity Deathmatch. By itself, that could be attributed to an error on the part of the release author. But the GC version of Deathmatch is also missing from EBGames.com and every other major game seller's product lineup.

There's been no error. The GameCube version of the game has been cancelled. Although Gotham Games wouldn’t comment, a source close to the game's development confirmed the cancellation and cited "programming issues" as the reason for its being axed.
