NDL has today announced that TimeGate Studios has licensed its Gamebryo 3D graphics engine and toolkit for Kohan: Kings of War. Gamebryo is based on NDL's NetImmerse technology, which has previously been employed in the development of such games as Freedom Force, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Dark Age of Camelot.

"TimeGate experienced great success with the release of Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns, and we're thrilled to be a part of the sequel," said John Austin, president of NDL. "The TimeGate team has been working diligently on Kings of War to create new features and gameplay that will have gamers wanting to experience the game over and over."

The sequel to Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns, Kings of War will see players assuming the role of an immortal leading the fight against an ancient evil. The game will feature six playable races and five political factions for players to choose from, and it will allow wars to be waged using hundreds of units.

"We wanted to maintain the engrossing gameplay of the first installment while giving Kings of War a bolder, more updated look and feel," said Adel Chaveleh, president of TimeGate Studios. "With NDL's history of hit titles in vastly different genres, we felt very comfortable selecting Gamebryo for this project and others to come."

Kohan: Kings of War is currently scheduled for release in 2004. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
