We don't know anything about who Clarke will play, but a post from StarWars.com teases, "Clarke's role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures."

Alden Ehreneich will play Han Solo in the untitled film, alongside Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. The movie is set before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy and is slated for release in 2018.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie) are directing the film.

According to a recent report, the film may show how Han Solo won the Millennium Falcon from Calrissian. It's also been confirmed that Chewbacca will appear in it, which is backed up again by Disney's statement today.

The movie's cinematographer recently said the film is "unexpected" and breaks the rules of what fans have come to expect from Star Wars movies.

The next Star Wars movie is December's spinoff, Rogue One.
