Gal Gadot To Star In New Netflix Thriller Heart of Stone

The Wonder Woman star will headline the streaming giant's "international espionage thriller."

Earlier this week Netflix revealed its extensive line-up of upcoming movies in 2021, which showed the company is sparing little expense when it comes to making new films. It's now been announced that it will be producing a big-budget thriller titled Heart of Stone, starring Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot.

Netflix announced the movie on Twitter, describing the movie as "an international espionage thriller." It will be directed by Tom Harper, who previously helmed the drama Wild Rose as well as episodes of Peaky Blinders, with a script by Greg Rucka (The Old Guard) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures).

A few more details about Heart of Stone have been revealed by Variety. The rights to the movie have been bought from Skydance Media, where it was in development. While Netflix previously released the Skydance movies Old Guard and Six Underground, those movies were finished before Netflix picked up distribution, while Heart of Stone is yet to start production.

This is the second Skydance project that has been bought by a streaming service this week. Amazon has paid a reported $200 million for the Chris Pratt-starring sci-fi action movie The Tomorrow War, which was originally set for a theatrical release this summer.

Gadot is also set to star in the Netflix action movie Red Notice, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson. The film doesn't yet have a confirmed release date, but will arrive in 2021.
