Update: We corrected the headline. PR Rog came in second; Jay "Box Viscant" Snyder came in first place in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. We apologize for the mix-up.

The biggest fighting game event in the USA, Evolution 2011, recently took place from July 29 to July 31. The tournament reached its crescendo overnight, and there were some surprises on the podium of winners.

Strangely, there were no Yang players in the top eight for SSFIV: AE.

Japanese player Fuudo won the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition grand finals using Fei Long. The tournament player is renowned for being a prominent player in the Virtua Fighter 5 scene. Brokentier Latif came in second place using C. Viper, while Korean player Poongko came in third place using Seth. Daigo Umehara, previous winner of last year's Evolution Super Street Fighter IV tournament, came in fourth place using Yun.

On the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 grand finals side, Jay "Box Viscant" Snyder won using Wesker, Haggar, and Phoenix. Eduardo "PR Balrog" Perez came in second place using Dante, Wolverine, and Tron. Justin Wong came in third place using Wolverine, She-Hulk, and Akuma. This is the first time the 2D fighting game featuring characters from the Marvel Comics and Capcom brand has been represented in an Evolution tournament, next to Mortal Kombat.

Other notable first place winners include DMG Perfect Legend for Mortal Kombat's grand finals, DMG Kor for Tekken 6's grand finals, and Spark for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift's grand finals. Check out the videos section of GameSpot soon for replays of the grand finals.
