Norway-based Funcom, the company responsible for Anarchy Online and The Longest Journey, today introduced Trond Arne Aas as its new president and CEO. Andre Backen, who previously held the positions, will continue to work for Funcom as a member of the board and the director of business development.

"After following the news of world-class products from Funcom such as The Longest Journey and Anarchy Online, I am excited to be working with an obviously talented group of people," Aas said. "I hope to use my diverse business experience to guide the company to maturity and success in this fascinating and rapidly growing industry of online games."

Aas brings years of business experience at companies including Lycos Europe and Spray NV to his new role. Before moving into the corporate world, Aas worked as a rocket scientist.
