Friday the 13th developer IllFonic has announced a new mode for the multiplayer survival-horror game. Dubbed Paranoia, the mode will be added to the title as a free update "soon."

IllFonic hasn't announced a date for when players can expect Paranoia mode to arrive, or even what the mode will entail. All the developer has shared is a psychedelic teaser trailer for the mode, which raises more questions than it answers. You can watch it below.

Friday the 13th's most recent update arrived earlier this month and introduced a number of new features and gameplay adjustments. Along with a new map (the Jarvis House), it added a new Jason as well as a new counselor, Mitch Floyd.

Friday the 13th is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game received a physical release for the two consoles earlier this month, fittingly on Friday the 13th. The PC version, meanwhile, is currently on sale for $20 on Steam to celebrate Halloween.

Am I the only one that thinks this game is a poor man's Dead by Daylight? It is so poorly designed Jason has to teleport and enter a "speed of light" mode to catch anyone... unlike any of the films.

And the counselors fatiguing every few seconds is so annoying with a map so big.

Perhaps Jason gets a new power, to morph into look like a counselor for a period of time? Definitely has something to do with not knowing who the killer is.

This game is very themeatic. Given the name and the movies I would guess the killer either starts out as a consoler so you can't tell who they are or they always are. This would fit the first movie where the killer was unknown and could seemingly interact with the victims (giving one a ride for instance before killing them). It might also fit the movie (forget which) where Tommy kind of goes crazy with the mask himself a bit.

What's the queue time like currently? $20 is a fair price, so long as I can get a full wknd of matches out of it in the next few weeks.

...and it's better than Evolve, right? Paid $20 for Evolve, and got less than one day from it. Mostly waiting... (Note that a valid reply requires actually having played both games.)

@restatbonfire: Surpsisingly when I've played this game for the first time, the kids were actually really helpful.

Came across one asshole was continually giving abuse to a player and the game hadn't even started.

I suggest anybody that hasn't played this game to try it out... Yea, there is a problem with the host leaving if he gets killed early or if it's Jason and they don't get any kills, but the game is crazy fun

@redviperofdorne: The only thing that's broken about it is the host leaving problem... It's the funnest game I have played in a long, long time. You should get back to collecting stuff in one of the 100 open world games released or go play some COD if you this game bothers you

I guess the mode is one of the counselors is a traitor or the killer!

That would explain the title and the video seem to indicate that with one box turning blue.

@petebonion: Part 5 is referenced in the trailer, which makes the premise kind of obvious. It makes me wonder if we'll see the halfway house/farm as map along with it.

I was planning on waiting until the single player was released, but with it being on sale for $20 I may go ahead and get it.

The video is pointless. lol

@Iamkalell: I say don't wait. By what I've seen of the game it looks like the singleplayer would be pretty dry. Kind of like L4D in singleplayer, except there are no zombies to fight and only a few weapons to pick up.

@Barighm: Did you just compare this to Left 4 Dead? That comparison is seriously reaching... by a hell of a lot. They're not even remotely similar in absolutely any way except that they both offer online multiplayer. The single-player in L4D was perfectly fine and hardly "dry", especially on higher difficulties.

@restatbonfire: Exactly, idk what game @Barighm was playing; but my experience with L4D was fantastic and not dull in the slightest.
