Irrational Games today announced that Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich has gone gold and is on schedule to be available for the PC on March 8. The game is the sequel to Freedom Force, one of 2002's surprise hits. The title will be distributed to North American retailers through Vivendi Universal Games.

In Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich, the superheroes of Patriot City will travel back in time to battle World War II-era enemies. Joining such heroes as Freedom Force's spicy El Diablo and alien Mentor will be heroes from the past, including the action-star-turned-superhero Sky King.

The game will feature new enhanced graphics, new multiplayer modes, fully interactive environments, and new modding tools for the Freedom Force community.

Freedom Force will retail for $39.99. No rating information is currently available. For more information, please check GameSpot's previous coverage.
