Online multiplayer access for PlayStation 4 games will be free this weekend across Europe, Sony has announced.
Starting from Friday February 13 at 6am, and running until 6am on Monday, online multiplayer will be open to anyone within Europe. While this service is already free on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, those who want to play online on PS4 usually need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus for the benefit.
PlayStation Plus, which in the UK costs £5.49 per month, also gives subscribers a catalogue of free games that can be owned for as long as the subscription is active. Recent research suggests that those who maximise the value of the free games could theoretically save themselves more than $1,000.
Writing on the EU PlayStation Blog, Sony claimed: "Now couldn’t be a better time to take advantage of this great opportunity, with huge PS4 multiplayer titles like Destiny, GTA V, Far Cry 4 and FIFA 15 firing on all cylinders on PlayStation Network."
