Fox Interactive announced on Tuesday that it would be publishing a game based on the hit television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The title is being prepared for the Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation, and PC platforms.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer game is being developed by Southern California-based developer The Collective. According to Fox, the game developers are working with the producers and creators of the television show to make sure the game maintains the same look and feel.

As for how the game will play, Fox Interactive states that it will be a third-person action-adventure title in which players will take the role of Buffy Summers. Aided by other popular characters from the television show, Buffy will battle enemies with slaying powers, martial arts, and quick-healing ability. According to Fox, gamers can look forward to action, fighting, drama, humor, exploration, and puzzle solving in 3D environments. Fans of the show will recognize such locations found in the game as Sunnydale High School, the cemetery, the shopping mall, the town square, The Bronze nightclub, and Buffy's home.

"Fox Interactive is taking advantage of the vast number of Slayer fans who want more than just their usual Tuesday night Buffy fix," said Karly Young, director of worldwide brand marketing at Fox Interactive. "Of all entertainment properties available today, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the franchise that gamers have been asking for."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is currently slated for a fall 2000 release on all three platforms.
