Microsoft has released some new footage for the upcoming Xbox One and PC racing game Forza Horizon 3 and it looks very impressive. The video, shot at Gamescom this week, comes from the Xbox UK YouTube channel and shows off some new sequences and races from the Australia-set racer.

Creative director Ralph Fulton from developer Playground Games discusses the game at length with Xbox UK's Graeme Boyd. Among other things, Fulton talks about how Playground sent a team to the Australian outback to capture sky footage. The result is that the sky you see in the game is real Australian sky, accurately synced up with the time of day. The way clouds look is particularly great when playing on the HDR-supported Xbox One S, according to Fulton.

Playground spent multiple months in the outback (not all at once, however) capturing the footage, Fulton said. You might have heard that the Australian outback is filled with deadly creatures, including spiders. Fulton said the cameras used to capture the footage had many nooks and crannies that spiders liked to crawl into, so someone had to clean out the eight-legged creatures every day. Yikes.

Microsoft officially announced Forza Horizon 3 during its E3 briefing in June. The game launches for Xbox One and PC on September 27. It's included in Microsoft's Play Anywhere program that lets you buy certain games digitally on Xbox One and play them for free on PC or vice versa.

Forza Horizon 3 features more than 350 cars, which is the most in the history of the Horizon series. You can see all of the cars that have been announced so far here.
