PC players, are you ready to see Fortnite like never before? Starting today, PC players using supported Nvidia GPUs and DirectX12 can enable ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS while playing Fortnite.

If you're still not quite sure what ray tracing is, here's a quick rundown: ray tracing is a rendering technique used in 3D graphics to create an image by tracing the path of light as pixels in an image and simulating the effects it has on any virtual objects it encounters. So what does that mean for Fortnite? According to the Fortnite team, they're now delivering improved ambient occlusion, shadows, reflections, and real-time global illumination. In short, this will make lighting effects like shadows and reflections look more life-like.

To see how it looks for yourself, you can head over to Creative, where Nvidia has set up a map with ray tracing enabled for players to check out. You'll need this code to enter: 9189-0518-5408.

But don't forget about the Nvidia DLSS feature! With this, your PC's performance is boosted so ray tracing can be used at higher framerates. There are three modes to choose from so you can select the best balance between image quality and FPS for the way you play. Nvidia's Reflex also delivers lower latency by working with the game engine directly to eliminate the GPU render queue and reduce CPU pressure for GPU intensive scenes. You can see if your rig meets system requirements for ray tracing below.
