Fortnite Birthday Update Offers Bonus Rewards And Challenges, Here's When
Let's smash some cakes.
Fortnite is preparing to celebrate its first birthday with a limited-time event. Starting on July 24, you can complete a set of special quests to unlock birthday-themed cosmetics and an XP bonus. You'll just need to do some footwork to unlock the whole set.
As detailed on the official blog, you can complete three different challenges with their own rewards, and one meta-goal of completing all three. The rewards and associated challenges are:
- Fortnite Birthday Emoticon - Deal 1,000 damage to opponents
- Happy Birthday Spray - Dance at different birthday cakes
- 5,000 XP - Play 14 matches
- Birthday Cake Back Bling - Complete the three other challenges
In Save the World mode, you can complete the Fortnite Birthday quest-line to earn the Birthday Brigade Ramirez Hero. You can also spend tickets on Birthday Llamas, which can net you Heroes and weapons from all events in the past year, excluding quest rewards. This marks the one-year anniversary of Fortnite as a whole, since Save the World became available last July, and the more popular Battle Royale didn't come until September.

The Fortnite team is also encouraging players to tag their birthday cake dances with the #Fortnite1st hashtag on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. While you're chipping away at those special birthday events, you can also take on new challenges to earn loads of new gear and loot that just came with the Season 5 update.
