Fortnite: Battle Royale Adds A Jetpack Soon On PS4, Xbox One, And PC

Get ready to take to the skies.

New additions to Fortnite's Battle Royale mode continue to roll out regularly. The free-to-play PS4, Xbox One, and PC game will soon add a radically different type of item that sounds like it could be a whole lot of fun--a jetpack.

At this point, we don't have any details on exactly what to expect. The jetpack is listed as "coming soon" in the game's New Updates section when you first log in, and the accompanying description only states, "Take the fight to all new heights." You can get a glimpse at what it looks like in the image below.

We don't yet know when the item will be released, but things teased on the New Updates screen typically aren't far from release. Epic previously teased that it would have a lot of new limited-time modes launching soon; the first of these, Solid Gold, is available now. Another mode that it teased involved one where the "floor is lava," which could potentially pair well with a jetpack that lets you get airborne. Whether that's when the jetpack launches remains to be seen.

Among the other recent additions to Fortnite: Battle Royale are the crossbow, minigun, and hand cannon weapons, as well as the Back Bling cosmetic slot. Season 3 also launched with a new Battle Pass, complete with its own set of rewards to earn.
