Now Playing: Xbox One X Video Review

Xbox One X releases around the world on Tuesday, and players who want to get their hands on the console right away will have a chance to pick one up at midnight from GameStop. The game retailer has announced it will host midnight launch parties at many of its stores in the US on release day.

The launch parties begin on Tuesday, November 7, at 12:01 AM ET and will take place at more than 2,000 GameStop locations across the country. Additionally, GameStop will offer an extra percentage bonus when customers trade in items toward their Xbox One X purchase; Elite members will get an extra 40%, Pro members an extra 30%, and all other customers will get 20%. Those who pre-ordered the console will also receive "up to $200 credit" when they trade in their current Xbox One toward the purchase.

If you'd like to go hands-on with the new console before buying one, participating GameStop stores around the country will also have demo units available to play the next three weekends, through November 19. You can find the full list of stores that will host Xbox One X demos on GameStop's website.

Xbox One X is the smallest and most powerful Xbox console to date. We recently unboxed one to show you everything that comes with the retail unit. More than 130 Xbox One games will receive enhancements when played on the system, including Assassin's Creed Origins, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Call of Duty: WWII, among many others. You can find the full list of Xbox One X-enhanced games here. You can learn more about Microsoft's new console in our full Xbox One X review and review roundup.

They really should have kept boosting the power and released it as the follow up Xbox and marketed it as an entirely new system, with exclusive games. I'd have bought it then, but as it stands, it offers me nothing at all.

@JustPlainLucas: exclusive games take time, and talent, and all of microsoft's studios are using their time and talent on the xbox brand. They can't alienate their fan base by making a next generation, mid generation when they've already lost the respective fight for dominance, all they can do is offer as close to more then their rival as they can.

as it stands, right now the gaming market is being monopolised by star wars shit and who really cares, some shitty failed star wars game that quite frankly noone gives a **** about, sparks a debate about whether singleplayer games will continue. right now.. companies need to work on offering the best possible experience within a game, faster quieter more stable console is just that.

however 30 fps games on the one x is a shocker.

At least they don't have to worry about selling any games.

This has all the hallmarks of a next gen console launch, except perhaps titles. I would have expected something more on the software front from MS TBH. Would probably sealed the deal for many

@barcaazul: Yep -- the only that that truly matters is suspiciously missing.

I can't wait to get all those exclusive cross-platform games I can literally play anywhere else with existing technology. Only on Xbox.

@barcaazul: Just because PS has 80 exclusives worth of JRPG shovelware doesn't mean its an impressive lineup, I know but what about HZD and the Uncharted DLC they released as a full game. I guess those are cool the only game I'm jealous of out of Sony's lineup is MLB The Show.

@j15reed:

Horses for courses, and just my view. I don't doubt that it won't do well, but it's a bit odd they are not more focused on some new IP IMO.

I think you will see more stand alone DLC going forward BTW. Making use of development on single player content like GTA IV for example. The difference is that they are not full priced. I prefer that over loot boxes, hats or DLC map packs though

@7tizz: It has no titles that can't be played on other currently existing systems. This is what they mean. There is ZERO incentive to buy an Xbox One X if you currently have an Xbox One and aren't interested in upgrading to 4K.

@7tizz:

I could buy an S and have the same titles. I meant exclusives and new IP from MS. PUGB is a big scoop, but it's likely a timed exclusive.

Sure it has backwards compatibility, but that doesn't interest me personally.

Its just my view, but based on where MS is today, I would have expected them to tease new IP coming soon

@kach Typical PlayStation pleb downing other people for wanting the most powerful true 4k console on the market. Must be a child to post ignorant garbage like that.

Of course Best Buy has their "midnight launches" at 9:01pm, so you could just get it that way instead of standing in line all night...

@7tizz: They do it base on Eastern standard time. The BestBuy here does it too. They release at midnight eastern time, which is 9 on the West.

@7tizz: I don't know that they do, but it would fit. And the article does say specify a timezone for the launch parties. I think Blizzard does something like that only since they're in PT it ends up being 3 AM ET.

I have two Xbox One X Project Scorpios on order from two separate retailers in the same town. One is a Gamestop and the other is my local toy store. I'm really looking forward to the midnight opening, they are always great fun!

I'll be sleeping, contently with my S and PS4 Slim. So no worries or losing sleep here.

@bubba_666: Well once you play through the 4-6 single player games that little to no replay value all you have left to do is sleep.

@ltjohnnyrico: If you have an external hard drive you can transfer games over ahead of time. Plus, some games already have their enhanced patch out so you don't have to wait.

Wow with that $200 trade in credit I could actually pick one of these up on Tuesday. I have an original Xbox One white Sunset Overdrive edition and the Gears of War 4 Xbox One S. I could trade in the Sunset Overdrive one and get the One X for about $299 which ain't to bad of a price it's not like I need 3 Xbox's lol. I think I'm still gonna wait though as I got Christmas gifts to buy plus I just bought a Nintendo Switch so honestly I'm good at the moment just wanna get more games for that now and continue playing Mario Odessey which is incredible.

@sdecker425: "Up to" $200. I received an email from them about it yesterday. I was curious to know if being a PowerUp Pro member got me any extra bonus, but there isn't anything on their website.

● Get $200 guaranteed for Switch or PS4 Pro toward the purchase of a new Xbox One X

● Get $150 guaranteed for Xbox One S, PS4 Original or Slim toward the purchase of a new Xbox One X

● Get $100 guaranteed for Original Xbox One toward the purchase of a new Xbox One X
