Fluidity flows to WiiWare

Last week Nintendo had its sights set on spelunking. The publisher doesn't stray too far from that this week, as its premier title out today is set largely in tunnels and caves.

Leading the pack today is Nintendo's colorful 2D side-scrolling puzzle game Fluidity (1,200 Wii points, or $12). The title sees players controlling water, swooshing it through numerous tunnels, and ultimately attempting to clean the world and collect rainbow droplets. There are more than 80 of these desirable pieces to be found across the game’s four chapters.

Also arriving on WiiWare today was Racers' Island--Crazy Arenas (600 Wii points, or $6). From Zallag, the one-to-four-player racing title packs in five zany tasks to complete. Players will capture a golden totem in a lost temple, ascend a fiery mountain peak, and take part in ice hockey and paintball tournaments, as well as a "time bomb" event, where players must pass on the bomb before it explodes. Upping the challenge ante, players drive their vehicles with one hand and manipulate objects with the other.

The next title hitting WiiWare today was Fireplacing (500 Wii points, or $5). In time for the holiday season, this "game" turns the television into a virtual fireplace. Those who download the app can prepare the wood, light the fire, and stoke it. Further, there is an "automatic" option, where users can start the fire and walk away, thus nullifying the need to continue to stoke it.

Leaping to the Virtual Console, Nintendo packed in two new titles today, the first of which is Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando (800 Wii points, or $8). From Capcom, the game has players controlling Joe, a grenade-wielding weaponry aficionado bent on slaying his enemies.

The other Virtual Console title out today was Sonson (800 Wii points, or $8). Also from Capcom, the arcade-born 2D side-scrolling platformer sees players controlling the Monkey King. As this player, gamers will fight a number of varied beasts. Players will encounter rats, bats, bosses, and other creatures along their way, as well as defeat them using Monkey King's varied attack skill set.

Lighting up DSiWare today were three new games, the first of which is Dairojo! Samurai Defenders (800 DSi points, or $8). From Abylight, the strategy title set in Japan sees players defending castles from oncoming nefarious invaders. The game also sports four modes: Score Attack, Normal mode, Random node and Versus, as well as "several" difficultly levels.

Also hitting DSiWare today was Space Ace (800 DSi points, or $8). From Digital Leisure, the single-player game puts players into the shoes of the heroic Ace and tasks them with thwarting the plotting of nefarious Commander Borf.

The last title dropping on DSiWare today was developer Cinemax's Rytmik Rock Edition (200 DSi points, or $2). The title is an application that allows users to create melodies or even full songs. The app boasts more than 130 bass, guitar, drums, and keyboard tracks for players to manipulate.
