Fish Without Bait - The Digital Way

Digital fishermen get a slightly more realistic way to go bass fishing from the family sofa, without having to touch a single worm.

You've seen Game Boys and other hand-held electronic games. But Bass Fishin' from Radica is a slightly different catch.

For one thing, the game sports a mechanical reel jutting out of its right side. For another, once the virtual angler has hooked his prey, the handle of the game pulsates wildly. Players attempt to hook a fish in this game with the lure of their choice, adjusting to such variables as weather and water conditions. They control the line tension and lure depth via the speed with which they turn the aforementioned side-jutting reel. The game's motion sensors detect the casting motion and quickness with which the player attempts to hook the fish.

Bass Fishin' sports two player modes - leisure and tournament. It retails for US$19.95 and should be available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Toys "R" Us, and wherever hand-held fishing simulators are sold.
