After 2K Sports picked up the rights to the PGA Tour in 2018, the company has now re-branded its golf series and shared the first teaser trailer for the next installment.

The franchise will now be known as PGA Tour 2K, transitioning away from 2019's game, which was called The Golf Club 2019 Featuring the PGA Tour. The new name is simpler and matches up better with 2K's other sports game offerings, including NBA 2K and WWE 2K.

PGA Tour 2K21 will be fully revealed on May 14, but 2K posted a teaser trailer to get things started. The trailer showcases the iconic Par 3 17th hole at the TPC Sawgrass course in Florida, which is the site of The Players Championship.

This was the final PGA Tour tournament to be played before the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, the tournament was canceled mid-event, with only one round of play taking place. The PGA Tour has announced plans to resume its tournaments beginning in June.

PGA Tour 2K21 is developed by HB Studios, which is the same developer that made The Golf Club series. There is no word yet on a list of supported platforms or a release date. The Golf Club 2019 Featuring the PGA Tour scored an 8/10 in GameSpot's review.

The PGA Tour's license with 2K appears to be non-exclusive, as EA--which used to publish the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series--maintains that it continues to have a relationship with the tour. Intriguingly, EA recently said it will revive one of its dormant sports game series, but right now, UFC seems more likely than PGA Tour.
