First Shot of ION Storm's Daikatana

Yesterday, ION Storm (the company created by John Romero) released a single screenshot on its web site of its upcoming premiere title Daikatana.

Levels of the game will be modeled after different periods of time, complete with intricate levels showcasing period architecture. The only screenshot is from Episode 2, Map 1, 2030 BC which is in the Greek era.

The game itself with run on the Quake 2 engine and ION Storm will showcase some of the features of the engine and game at E3. After E3, ION Storm promises to release weekly updates and new screenshots for gamers on the Daikatana home page. Until then, they'll either have to go to Atlanta or bite their nails in anticipation.
