[UPDATE] A PlayStation representative confirmed with GameSpot today that Dead Star will indeed join the PlayStation Plus lineup in April 2016.

"Yes, Dead Star will be added to the April free games lineup for PlayStation Plus members," the spokesperson said. "Stay tuned for our announcement on the full April free games lineup for Plus members later this month.

The original story is below.

It's only the second week of March, but it appears April 2016's PlayStation Plus free games lineup is already coming into focus. One of the PlayStation 4 games coming to the instant game collection next month will be Armature Studio's shooter Dead Star, according to a PSN notification sent to Twitter's BLAMdrew (via DualShockers). BLAMdrew apparently preordered Dead Star on PS4, but, because it's reportedly included in April 2016's free PS Plus lineup, Sony refunded the full amount. Not only that, but the person also got a free Dead Star theme.

This is a pretty strange way of learning about the PS Plus catalog for next month. We have followed up with Sony in an attempt to get more details and confirm if Dead Star is indeed joining the lineup.

Dead Star is coming to PS4 on April 5, according to the game's PlayStation Store page. If true, it means it will launch as a freebie like Rocket League did back in July 2015. The game, which will also be available on PC, is a multiplayer space combat shooter in which you pilot ships through procedurally generated environments.

For now, you can pick up March 2016's free PS Plus games, which include Broforce (voted for by fans) and Galak-Z, among others.

Armature is also working with Keiji Inafune on the upcoming Xbox One and PC game ReCore.
