First look: The Fellowship of the Ring

Several new screenshots from Universal's The Fellowship of the Ring for the Xbox have been released. The Fellowship of the Ring is an action-adventure game, and it will follow three of the characters from the J.R.R. Tolkien novel of the same name: Gandalf, Frodo, and Aragorn. All three playable characters have different abilities, and in addition to battling enemies, players will be able to set traps, pick locks, and use magic. The game will include 28 types of enemies, as well as a number of boss characters. The ring will also factor into the game, as players can use it perform certain actions.

Fellowship of the Ring is scheduled for release in Q4 2002. Electronic Arts is also releasing a Lord of the Rings game, which is based on the movie rather than the book.
