Konami has released first screens and details on its new snowboarding title, which is in the works for the PlayStation2. Titled ESPN X Games Snowboarding, it is based on the Winter X Games and, according to Konami, it is "one of several action-packed ESPN titles to be released for the PS2 over the next year."

As for what we can expect to see in ESPN X Games Snowboarding, Konami states that there will be four events: big air, boarder cross, halfpipe, and slopestyle. And all of these events will be graced by realistic ESPN coverage - including live commentary from the pros. The game will even give you the option of viewing events from traditional video game camera angles or from authentic ESPN camera angles.

In the game, players can ride custom-designed mountains in the free-ride mode, or you can take a trail map filled with different paths that have jumps or obstacles along the way. According to Konami, there will also be a head-to-head mode for some serious snowboarding competition. Konami stated that the game's soundtrack will come through with tunes from big-name artists, and players will be able to choose their favorite songs or musical styles. However, we have yet to hear what artists Konami's signed on.

ESPN X Games Snowboarding is slated for a November release and will be priced at US$49.99. According to Konami, the screenshots included in this story are actual gameplay screens taken from the development kit.
