UK-based developer Zed Two has released the first screenshots from Pillage, its forthcoming turn-based action strategy game. Pillage is the company's first original game since Aqua Aqua , which was published by 3DO in February 2001.

Viewed from a third-person perspective, the game is set on a world where years of rule by a race of despotic creatures has forced people to give up technology and regress to a simple existence. Players will assume the role of Low, a young man who has sworn to avenge the genocide the creatures carried out on his tribe. Along with his sister, Pepper, Low has recruited a band of hardened warriors, and with them, he plans to reclaim the planet for its rightful owners by any means necessary.

Players will take turns using the available time, energy, and weapons to work toward defeating the enemy. The gameplay sounds vaguely reminiscent of that in Infogrames' Aqua Aqua on the PlayStation, except that characters will have limited lines of sight and all the environments will be fully destructible--apparently ensuring that no two games are ever the same.

Pillage is scheduled for release on the PC, PS2, and GameCube next year. We'll bring you more information on the game as it becomes available.
