First look: Ally of Justice

Sony announces a new PlayStation 2 game in Japan, which is similar in concept to Sega's Rent-A-Hero.

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced a new PlayStation 2 game titled Ally of Justice. In the game, players assume control of a hired hero--who they can design themselves using the game's create-a-hero feature--and take on a variety of bad guys and evil monsters. Interestingly, the media plays a major role in the game. All the player's actions will be watched closely by the media and broadcast to the entire country. The audience then rates the player's performance. If the audience-rating meter reaches zero, the game is over.

Ally of Justice will be released this October in Japan. There has been no announcement on a North American release, and we don't expect one anytime soon.
