First Image Released From DC's Wonder Woman, Plus Full Cast Announced
Who's That Gal?
While much of the current focus on the DC movie universe is upon the two big films due next year--Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad--production has now begun on the first of 2017's films. Wonder Woman is now shooting in London, and we have the first image, plus a logo and cast news. First of all, star Gal Gadot has tweeted this picture from the set:
In addition, Warner has released the full, impressive cast list for the movie. Star Trek's Chris Pine will co-star as Captain Steve Trevor, the military intelligence officer who is traditionally Wonder Woman's love interest. Joining Pine are the likes of Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Said Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis.
The film's official logo has also been revealed--check it out here, via CBR. Last month, it was reported that the film would span three distinct time periods, beginning on Themyscira, the fictional island that is the home of Wonder Woman and her fellows Amazons, before moving to the First World War, and then the present day.
Speaking to Interview magazine earlier this year, Gadot explained what drew her to the role. "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women," she said. "And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There's a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It's going to be an amazing ride."
Wonder Woman is being directed by Monster's Patty Jenkins, and is set for release on June 23, 2017. Before that, we will see Gadot as the character when she appears in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is due in March next year.
