First Details on PS2 Evo Rally

New development studio Evolution Studios is working on a secret PS2 game. Now it's not so secret anymore.

When Ian Hetherington left Psygnosis and formed Evolution Studios together with Digital Image Design's Martin Kenwright, it became clear that whatever they would touch in the future, it would most likely be something interesting. However, it was unclear what their concrete plans would be. Now we know what they're working on: a PlayStation2 rally game tentatively named Evo Rally (due to their studio's name). This name will definitely change in the future.

There is very little known about the game at this stage except that there will be 48 stages from around the world, combining tracks of the World Rally Championship with rally-cross circuits and hill-climbing tracks.

"The cars and tracks are modeled in incredible detail, from fully destructible car bodies, to the photo-realistic virtual cabins, with tracks covering all types of rally stages from short road races tothe epic desert and snow stages," states Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

While this might not sound that much more advanced than current rally titles, we're following it closely because of Ian Hetherington and Martin Kenwright, who stand behind the project. We'll try to chase up some screenshots as soon as possible.
