Fire Pro Wrestling creator Masato Masuda passes away at 48
"He was one of the greatest creators of video games and he was my direct teacher," says Grasshopper Manufacture boss Suda51.
Masato Masuda, creator of the Fire Pro Wrestling series, has passed away. He was 48.
The news was confirmed by Grasshopper Manufacture boss Goichi "Suda51" Suda, who spoke of him time working with Masuda in the 90s. "He was 48 years old, still young," wrote Suda on Twitter. "I genuinely pray for his happiness in the next world."
"He was one of the greatest creators of video games and he was my direct teacher," added Suda.
The series--a hit in Japan--started in 1989 with Fire Pro Wrestling Combination Tag for the PC Engine. The series saw releases on the SNES, Saturn, Game Boy Advance, Dreamcast, and the PlayStation 2.
Recently, an Xbox Live Arcade version of Fire Pro Wrestling was released in 2012.
"Thank you for giving us our favorite Fire Pro Wrestling. You are the god of it," concluded Suda.
