Fire Emblem: Three Houses DLC Adds A New, Subterranean House

Meet the Ashen Wolves.

How many houses are in Fire Emblem: Three Houses? Three. It's right there in the name. But a new piece of DLC will add a fourth house, because nothing is certain in this topsy-turvy world.

A trailer for the "Cindered Shadows" side story introduces the Ashen Wolves, a group of outcast students secretly living in the Abyss--a dark area below the monastery. The small band of students are eager for a teacher, and consider themselves an unofficial fourth house.

Now Playing: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Is Getting A Fourth House - GS News Update

The Ashen Wolves are composed of Balthus, Hapi, Yuri, and Constance. As Balthus explains, "The surface world turned its back on us, and we did the same in return." The trailer appears to show members of Golden Deer accompanying Byleth when discovering the Ashen Wolves, so it seems likely this side story will add the new faction to your existing campaign rather than replace it.

This is the final piece of the Fire Emblem: Three Houses Expansion Pass, which is available for $25 / €25. The other three waves included alternate officer outfits for Byleth, more Auxiliary battle maps and support items, more quests, and the ability to recruit the recurring Fire Emblem character Anna. The Cindered Shadows DLC will be available on February 13.

The announcement was made right alongside another big Nintendo reveal for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Byleth, the hero of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is joining as the fifth DLC character in the first Fighters Pass. A new Fire Emblem stage will also be coming to the game, modeled after the Garreg Mach Monastery.
