Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing Apps Coming to Mobile

[UPDATE] We now know more about the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem games, which are coming out this fall, courtesy of Nintendo's earnings report (via Kotaku).

"...While making it more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo's dedicated gaming systems, Nintendo aims to offer the great value of a role-playing strategy game. Nintendo will design the latter game so that it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems. By playing both Animal Crossing games, users will find increased enjoyment.

"Both of these are pure game applications. Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo's dedicated games business.Nintendo will provide more details about these applications closer to their launch period, and aims to have multiple types of apps that appeal to different audiences and different groups of players."

Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing will be the next Nintendo franchises to get the mobile app treatment, the company announced today. Nintendo confirmed the news as part of its 2016 fiscal year earnings report. Nintendo of America also confirmed the in-development titles on its Twitter account.

In related Nintendo mobile news, the company announced that its latest social networking app, Miitomo, has attracted over 10 million users worldwide, and that over 20 million Miifotos have been taken inside the app. Miifotos are images that users are able to create by posing their Mii avatars among various backdrops. Nintendo will run a special 10-day promotion between April 29 and May 8 to celebrate the milestone.

In the same report, Nintendo also announced the March 2017 launch window for its next console, codenamed NX, as well as the delay of the next Legend of Zelda game to 2017. Furthermore, the company stated that the next Legend of Zelda game would be the focus of their showing at E3 2016, and be playable for the first time.
