While it was rumoured earlier this year that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would play a part in the film, until now it had not been officially announced. This will be the actor's penultimate appearance as the character, with Wolverine 3 set for release in 2017.

X-Men: Apocalypse is directed by Bryan Singer, who made the first two movies in the series and returned for 2014's Days of Future Past. It is released on May 27, 2016, and stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, and Rose Byrne.
