Final Fantasy's Lightning Is "Perfect Avatar" for Heroic Women, Fashion Company Says

GameSpot reported last year on a Final Fantasy character being featured in ads for Louis Vuitton. Now, more images of Final Fantasy XIII's Lightning wearing Louis Vuitton fashion have been released.

In the ads, Lightning is shown wearing fashion from "Series 4," which you can see being worn by real-life models here. Square Enix said in a press release that the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Final Fantasy embodies shared values to preserve tradition while seeking out new and revolutionary ideas.

"Lightning is the perfect avatar for a global, heroic woman," said Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere. "Lightning heralds a new era of expression."

Final Fantasy designer Tetsuya Nomura said that Lightning's "stunning new look" was produced entirely by Louis Vuitton.

"This collaboration is not just a promotion of a game, and it is a great honor that the character herself received an offer from a world famous brand," added Nomura. "This has infused new breath into the character, Lightning."

Lightning will be featured in various magazine advertisements starting this month, in addition to promotional videos for the fashion campaign.
