Nvidia has announced that it is working closely with Square to optimize the PC version of Final Fantasy XI. Nvidia supplied Square with GeForce4 hardware and technical assistance early in the development process, and the game will have additional visual effects when played on GeForce4 Ti graphics cards.

"We are proud to announce Final Fantasy XI for Windows today and are pleased to be aligned with Nvidia to take the Final Fantasy series to the next level," said Yoichi Wada, president and CEO of Square.

The PC version of Final Fantasy XI is scheduled to ship in Japan on November 7 and will allow PC players full access to Square's PlayOnline service. The PlayStation 2 version of the game launched in Japan this spring and is expected to come out in the US early next year. For more details, check out our previous coverage of the PC and PC games.
