Final Fantasy Cast Made Official

Columbia Pictures releases official information on the talent behind the upcoming Final Fantasy Movie.

Columbia Pictures recently made official the list of actors lending their voices to the Final Fantasy Movie, first reported by the Official PlayStation Magazine in Japan. The list includes Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Peri Gilpin, Ming-Na Wen, Ving Rhames, Donald Sutherland and James Woods. According to Columbia, the Final Fantasy Movie will be the first motion picture to "simulate human emotions and movements more realistically than any current CG animated film."

The voice recording for the film is currently underway in Los Angeles and is under the direction of Jack Fletcher, known for his work on Kiki's Delivery Service and Black Mask. The filming is currently underway in Honolulu, under the direction of Hironobu Sakaguchi.

"With its futuristic special effects using state-of-the-art digital technology, Final Fantasy is one of the most exciting projects on our horizon," said Columbia Pictures President Amy Pascal. "I am thrilled to bring such top-notch acting talent to the project."

The Final Fantasy Movie is currently being slated for a release during summer, 2001.
