Final Fantasy Agito coming to North America "soon"

Released in Japan last month, the Final Fantasy iOS and Android spinoff is now officially confirmed for North America

Square Enix mobile product manager Issei Shimizu confirmed on the company's official blog today that the iOS and Android spinoff Final Fantasy Agito is now confirmed for release in North America. "We've heard the fan feedback after Final Fantasy Agito was released in Japan and today, we're extremely excited to announce that the game will soon make its way to North American fans who have been eagerly waiting," he enthused. "The game will be available for free download with in-app purchases on iOS and Android devices."

If you're not familiar with this particular entry in the ever-expanding Final Fantasy universe, it takes place in the war-torn land of Orience, which is the same world as Final Fantasy Type-0. In fact it reuses many of the characters, monsters, and locations as Type-0 and appears to use the same assets. Players take on the role of a cadet in the Dominion of Rubrum as they aim to become Agito, a prophesized savior of Orience.

As the blog post mentions, the game is free-to-play and does have micro-transactions. Like many games of this type, it uses the increasingly unpopular system of paid energy. You know the deal; you are only able to do a certain number of missions before your energy runs out, and then you either have to wait for the energy to replenish over time or use items (which can be purchased real money) to refill your energy instantly.
