Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will Hand Out DLC Through Butterfinger Bars

Nobody better lay a finger on Cloud's Butterfinger.

Butterfinger has announced a campaign to give Final Fantasy VII Remake players an opportunity to nab some DLC by buying chocolate. The offer will, according to the Butterfinger/FF7 website, go into effect on March 3 at 12PM ET, and will allow customers who purchase Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, or Crunch bars to nab some free DLC by sending in a photo of their barcodes.

You'll need to buy two participating products at once, and while you can buy the bars early you cannot claim the DLC until the game is out for PlayStation 4 on April 10. The deal will not extend outside America, either, which makes sense: Butterfinger is a distinctly American product.

Where these photos will need to be sent, and what DLC players could unlock, is not clear as of yet, although the Butterfinger website is showing what look like several cosmetic items, as well as a Tifa Lockhart dynamic theme for PS4. Players will be limited to one receipt upload per day, and there's a limit of one "offer item" per person.

Final Fantasy is no stranger to crossing over with a food brand, as Final Fantasy XV was full of references to Pot Noodle. For those outside America of a certain age, Butterfinger is best known for its long-running series of ads featuring The Simpsons.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will feature new summons and quest types when it launches in April, and it will be a PS4 exclusive for one year.
