The first part of Square Enix's episodic remake of Final Fantasy VII is finally hitting this year, though fans will need to be a bit more patient. The first episode of the remake was recently delayed from March 3 to April 10, 2020, which means another month of anticipation before we see Cloud, Tifa and the rest of the crew in HD. During last year's E3 we saw an extended battle and gameplay sequence, showing some of major changes the update makes to the battle system (not to mention the visuals), which should help breath new life into this time-honored classic.

The extended gameplay trailer shown at E3 features Cloud, Barret, and some other familiar characters during the Bombing Mission from the original Final Fantasy VII. Near the end of the trailer, Aerith grabs Cloud's hand as they're surrounded by a strange black smoke.

The latest FF7 Remake trailer debuted at The Game Awards, focusing on protagonist Cloud Strife. You can also watch the TGS 2019 trailer (which you can watch above), which focuses on the Turks and showcases more of the game's voice acting and hinted that the original's squatting mini-game will return in the remake.

You can also check out the official box art below.

These are huge updates for FF7 fans, who have waited anxiously for the game during its long development period. Square Enix previously confirmed the FF7 remake will be released in multiple installments and that each installment will be quite substantial; during the E3 2019 press conference, the team confirmed the game's remake will contain two Blu-ray discs worth of content.

Now that we have an official release date and gameplay details, more retailers are opening up pre-orders for the game. You can check out those pre-order links below, including links for the two premium editions announced during E3: a Deluxe edition and a 1st Class collector's edition.
