Final Fantasy 15 Will Receive More DLC Episodes In 2018, Director Says

November 29 marked the first anniversary of Final Fantasy XV, and Square Enix commemorated the occasion with a special Active Time Report livestream. Along with announcing that the game's December update will allow players to switch characters, the stream revealed that Square Enix plans to release more DLC episodes for Final Fantasy XV next year.

Thus far, two DLC episodes have been released for Final Fantasy XV, with a third one--Episode Ignis--scheduled to arrive in December. While that marks the end of the game's announced content, Square Enix plans to release more DLC episodes throughout 2018. During the Japanese Active Time Report stream (via Gematsu), game director Hajime Tabata said he would like to release "at least three" more episode-style DLC chapters for Final Fantasy XV during the course of the year.

Tabata didn't share many more details about the next DLC episodes. However, he did reveal that the first will focus on Ardyn. He also said the chapter will reveal more details about the world of Eos. Square Enix will share more information about any future DLC by the end of the year.

Square Enix has added a steady stream of new content and features to Final Fantasy XV since it launched last year. Earlier this month, the game's multiplayer expansion, Comrades, was released on PS4 and Xbox One. The aforementioned Episode Ignis, meanwhile, launches on December 13. Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto also teased that 2018 will be a "big" year for the franchise, with Final Fantasy XV arriving on PC in early 2018.
