The next Square Enix "Active Time Report," a video broadcast that's expected to bring news about Final Fantasy XV, will be held on August 5, Square Enix announced today.

That lines up with the start of Gamescom. The broadcast will begin that day at 9 AM PDT / 12 Noon EDT. You'll be able to watch the event live on Twitch.

Final Fantasy XV skipped E3 in favor of Gamescom, where the game is expected to have a major showing. Among other things, Square Enix plans to show off "new, never-before-seen" gameplay footage during the event.

Square Enix's previous Active Time Report broadcasts have featured insight from director Hajime Tabata, who has talked about things like fan feedback and criticism. Basically, if you're a Final Fantasy fan, you don't want to miss it.

Gamescom runs August 5-9 in Cologne, Germany. GameSpot will be reporting live from the show all week long.
