Final Fantasy 11 Is Getting New Story Content

August's update is bringing part one of a new story, and a whole lot more.

Comments

On August 6 Square Enix dropped part one of a new storyline for its MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. This new story series, called The Voracious Resurgence, is being released alongside the game's August update, and will have players looking into mysteries of Vana'diel's past that have been shrouded in secrecy until now--and also eggs.

Alongside the new narrative content to explore, August will be full of several other events and contests for players to check out. These include a Shield Design Contest, the Midsummer's Night Bounty Campaign (where players can earn double to triple the experience and capacity points from enemy encounters), plus two limited-run events: the Green Festival (running from August 7-18), and the Sunbreeze Festival (running from August 14-31).

To entice lapsed players back for the update, Square Enix has also announced the Return Home to Vana'diel campaign, which will allow anyone who has previously subscribed to play through the new update content for free until August 17. To qualify for the campaign, you need to have an active PlayOnline/Final Fantasy XI service account, and your character status must be set to "cancelled" as of August, 4 2020. If you've been looking for an excuse to dive back into FFXI, this is a solid one, as there are plenty of incentives to get you back in the game with this new update.
