Speaking with Forbes, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that many third-party publishers don't yet understand Wii players. Fils-Aime believes that the system's audience is just as interested in popular PS3 and Xbox 360 games, but publishers have been too hesitant to make Wii versions of those games. He also implied that third-party publishers are short-changing the Wii by reserving their best games for other systems.

"I will be able to say our licensees 'get it' when their very best content is on our platform," Fils-Aime is quoted as saying. "And with very few exceptions today, that's not the case."

Fils-Aime also touched on some of the Wii's other recurring issues in the article. He said Nintendo had a good chance of shipping enough Wii systems to meet demand this holiday season, but was more pessimistic about doing the same for Wii Fit. Fils-Aime also addressed the question of when the system will receive its first price cut, saying that such a move would happen eventually, but "we're nowhere near that point now."
