Although Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime is frequently laser-focused on his message of Wii and DS evangelism in interviews, he isn't above conceding some of his competitors' successes. In a San Francisco Chronicle interview published this weekend, Fils-Aime called out a handful of PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 titles for praise when asked if there were any games on other platforms he wishes were on the Wii.

"I've been very intrigued with LittleBigPlanet (from Sony)," Fils-Aime said. "I don't know that it belongs on their platform."

Fils-Aime also said that Microsoft had done well, particularly with first-person shooters, specifically Halo. "Anyone who would look at that and say, 'No, I think we could live without it,' probably doesn't think real long about this industry," Fils-Aime said. He went on to call BioShock "tremendously clever," and an example of the sort of thought-provoking content he wants to see more of in the gaming industry.

Fils-Aime also addressed industry-watcher assertions that the Wii is a fad. He called those concerns "overblown."

"What we've found is people are playing their Wii consoles frankly more today than the day we launched," Fils-Aime said. "We are finding that consumers are playing a wide range of software much beyond Wii Sports."
