Note: This post contains light spoilers for Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. We recommend you play through the chapter first before reading this guide.

When Cloud and Aerith venture to Wall Market, they spend a lot of time getting to know the folks who live and work there, all in an effort to get close to Don Corneo and rescue Tifa. That requires getting through Corneo's audition by earning different dresses. While you'll unlock your first three dresses through the course of the story, there's actually a total of nine dresses, and which ones you see in Chapter 9 are determined by several of your actions.

You'll need to complete Final Fantasy 7 Remake at least once in order to see all the dresses, since you'll need the game's Chapter Select menu to revisit key choices. Chapter Select only unlocks once you've finished the final chapter. Getting three dresses gives you the "Snappy Dresser" Trophy, while getting all nine will unlock the "Dressed to the Nines" Trophy.

Below is everything you need to know to unlock all nine dresses.

We have a whole lot more FF7 Remake coverage to help you find absolutely everything in the game. Check out our Final Fantasy 7 Remake guide rundown for more, and read our Final Fantasy 7 Remake review, which awards the game a rare GameSpot 10.

Tifa's Dresses

The first three possible dresses are Tifa's, and they're the simplest to change. They're determined by a question Tifa asks you way back in Chapter 3, if you do things correctly.

First, you need to get the "Discovery: Alone at Last" scene with Tifa. To do that, complete all six side-quests in Chapter 3.

When Tifa says, "I wonder what would suit me, you're prompted to give her one of three answers: "Mature," "Sporty," or "Exotic." Tifa will wear a different dress to Wall Market depending on what you answer.

Exotic

In order to unlock all three of Tifa's dresses, you'll need to play Chapter 3 a total of three times. Each time, you'll also need to play through Chapter 9 to unlock the dresses.

Aerith's Dress

It might seem like Aerith's dresses are determined by your actions in Chapter 9--specifically, the answers you give during your visit to Madam M's, or your performance in the Corneo Colosseum, since that's where you get the money for Aerith's outfit.

In fact, it's your actions in Chapter 8 that determine how elaborate Aerith's look is in Chapter 9. How many side-quests you do affects how fancy Aerith's dress is; do none, and she'll have a plain dress, but do all six, and she'll have an extremely elegant one.

Zero Chapter 8 Side-quests

Instead of doing any side-quests, head back to Aerith's house and enter through the front door to progress the story.

If you don't help anyone in Sector 5 while you're there in Chapter 8, Aerith will opt for a very simple dress.

Three Chapter 8 Side-quests

Any three side-quests will do, including the Moogle Emporium quest (which just requires you to buy a Moogle Emporium membership for one Moogle Medal). When you've got three finished, head back to Aerith's mom's house.

Six Chapter 8 Side-quests

Like with Tifa's dresses, you'll need to complete Chapter 8 three total times in order to see all of Aerith's looks.

Cloud's Dress

The look Andrea Rodea gives Cloud is the only one that's actually determined in Wall Market, and it's also the most elaborate to figure out. It's determined by the side-questions you complete in Chapter 9; there are five in total, but you'll only get access to three when you play through the chapter. To access the last two, you'll need to choose a specific option at the right time.

Zero Chapter 9 Side-quests

Skipping Chapter 9 side-quests in Wall Market gets you Cloud's least-elaborate outfit and hair.

Instead of completing any quests while you wait for Aerith to get dressed, just double-back to Madam M's and enter when prompted.

Complete "The Party Never Stops" and "Dynamite Bodies" Side-quests

The choices you make in Wall Market determine which set of side-quests you receive in the middle of the chapter. Completing one group gets you one dress option, while the other group unlocks a different dress. The blue and black dress comes from the Chocobo Sam quest line, which you can unlock by following Johnny to the Honeybee Inn and agreeing with him, choosing heads or tails at the coin toss with Chocobo Sam, and choosing the poor man's massage option at Madam M's. That will result in you getting two of four possible quests: "The Party Never Stops," which you'll take on with Johnny, and the "Dynamite Bodies" fight in the Corneo Colosseum.

Complete "The Price of Thievery" and "Shears' Counterattack"

Andrea gives Cloud a white and black dress when you unlock

If you take the right actions in Chapter 9, you'll switch "The Party Never Stops" and "Dynamite Bodies" for two different (non-Johnny) quests. Unlocking them requires you to ignore Johnny when he runs past you on the way to Don Corneo's or to disagree with him at the Honeybee Inn, to choose not to play during Chocobo Sam's coin toss, and to choose the luxury massage option at Madam M's. Do that, and you should get the "The Price of Thievery" and "Shears' Counterattack" side-quests.

Complete the two new side-quests to get Cloud's last dress.
