Fez sold 105K in 48 hours through Steam Sale
Phil Fish reveals first summer sale was "bananers," with game selling more than first full month on Xbox Live Arcade.
Independent platformer Fez sold 105,000 units in 48 hours during its first Steam Summer Sale--where it was discounted to $5--developer Phil Fish has announced on Twitter.
In a series of tweets, Fish described the results as "bananers" and "f***in' nutso," noting that sales through Steam's annual summertime sale outpaced its original PC and Xbox Live releases by a healthy margin.
"Ok, so our first steam summer sale is over and it was BANANERS," Fish said, adding, "We sold more copies in the first 24 hours of the sale than we had on steam in the first 3 months since release!"
"And over the course of the full 48 hours, we sold more than we had in our first month on XBLA. It's been f***in' NUTSO. Thank you cheap people everywhere!" he concluded.
Fez was originally released in May 2012 for XBLA and has sold more than 200,000 units to date on that platform. A sequel is currently in development, though not for the Xbox.
